Lighting implementation

The upgrade to new LED technology in the luminaires that have been installed in our cities for decades is at the top of the agenda for public administrations, lighting designers and companies overseeing this renovation.

There are two types of interventions:
- conservation of the original luminaire, updated with new LED technology;
- replacement of old luminaires with similar but newly-built products.
These are two different presentations of the types described above.

Each Neri luminaire is the result of a careful design intended to create extremely reliable products with high-performance lighting and reduced energy consumption. Each luminaire is designed to be compatible with LED technology and follow its evolution and continuous upgrades. In its laboratories, Neri persistently experiments to achieve an even higher performance in a technical context in continual evolution.

The luminaires that are most often replaced with new products are the spheres that, from the 1970s to 2000, have literally taken over our coastlines, urban gardens and many city centres. Their current condition is highly damaged. Having gone out of style, they no longer satisfy aesthetic standards, nor do they meet functional criteria given their widespread dispersion of light.

Below are a series of examples of urban interventions in which spheres were replaced, at times with the ‘Light 804’ lantern, and at others with ‘Light 106’. For example, the city of Bitonto in Apulia renovated its installation and replaced the spheres with ‘Light 804’. The difference between before and after is extremely obvious and the nocturnal city has been radically transformed.

Manduria (Apulia) underwent the same transformation, again with ‘Light 804’. In the central square, the spheres on the large posts were replaced with ‘Light 23’ with LED lighting.

The sphere mounted on a simple steel pole in Ascoli Piceno was replaced with ‘Light 106’.
In Belforte del Chienti, the two spheres were replaced with a single ‘Light 34’.
In Avellino, the old spheres and droplet-shaped suspensions were replaced with ‘Light 22’.

Also in Francavilla Fontana the spheres of the large lamp posts that illuminate the central square were replaced with ‘Light 22’ with LED lighting.

Old spheres mounted on medium-sized swan-neck lamp posts are very often replaced. The luminaire most commonly used as a replacement is Light Nova, whose lower part in white aesthetically resembles the spheres, but with higher performance. Below are examples in Atessa, Udine, Villesse, Ascoli Piceno, Treppo Carnico, Summonte, Terracina and Ozzero.

In many cases, the conditions of the lanterns mounted previously and produced by various industrial and artisan companies are truly precarious, and so replacement with ‘Light 804’ is preferred, as seen in Francavilla Fontana and Manziana.

Syracuse has carried out a large-scale intervention replacing hundreds of old lanterns with the new ‘Light 801’ with LED lighting, and the shade suspensions of the Piazza Duomo lamp posts with Light Nova.

Also worth mentioning is the extensive intervention carried out by the Municipality of Milan with over 8,000 Light Nova replacing the old luminaires. The intervention was carried out throughout the entire city on its swan neck posts, porticoes and suspended centre-road lighting.
